Author Finds: The Tree of Mindala

The Tree of Mindala
By Elle Jacklee

Miranda Moon's vivid imagination has gotten her into trouble more times than she can count. This time, she's been suspended from school. So her straight-laced younger brother, Marcus, blames her when they're relegated to their late grandparents' old cabin over Halloween weekend. But when Miranda finds a curious trinket, they're mysteriously whisked away to Wunderwood, where magic flows through the trees and everyone already knows their family name. A place even Miranda never imagined.

Just as they arrive, a sinister warlock, Thornton Crow, is freed from a long banishment. He resumes his deadly agenda to find The Tree of Mindala, the source of all the realm's magic. As Miranda and Marcus discover branches of their own family tree that they hadn't even known existed, they learn that Thornton has a score to settle with anyone in their bloodline. Especially them... Though justice has always had a way of being naturally restored in Wunderwood, Thornton's latest evil deed just may be the tipping point.
When Miranda discovers her own role in Thornton's release, she knows it's up to her to stop him from stealing not just magic, but also hope. With travel companions that could as easily be foes as friends, and only the cryptic words of a prophecy to guide her, Miranda must decide if she can carry out the task that will either save Wunderwood... or doom it forever.

Gemini the Heir Release!

Just a year ago, I thought I was an ordinary human, and I gave up everything on Earth to save the people I loved. I have become the Lenai of Emréiana, making me the heir to the Emréian throne. It also makes me in charge of defeating the Bremoir, a race that has been consuming other worlds. If I can’t stop them, the universe is doomed.

Then there is Aaronmon, my betrothed. We have only known each other for a year, but our bond is strong. It’s that bond that makes it hard to know my true feelings. While I think I am ready for the ceremony, I wonder if I really love him like I loved Kyle, my ex- boyfriend who was murdered.

But none of my feelings matter. In order to rule Emréiana, I must go through with the bonding ceremony. If I don’t, then I risk losing the right as heir and I’ll have no power in the war against the Bremoir. Nobody wants them defeated more than me.

Gemini the Heir on Hold

Last month, I announced that Gemini the Heir, sequel to Gemini of Emreiana, would be released Halloween, 2013.

However, I had to make a hard decision to release it December 1st. There is a  long story I could tell about it, but to sum it up: it needs more editing and time. So, I'm spending more money to get the book as close to perfection as I can. I did not do that with Gemini of Emreiana and that is what I am trying to make up for. I feel that if my readers are spending money on my product, then I should put all my effort into it, and if that means more money and time, then so be it. I don't want to send out a sloppy novel; it's unfair for you to pay for that.

Anyways, I think December 1st will be plenty of time to get it ready, and it would be an amazing Christmas gift for my readers. I will let everyone know when the book blast will be rescheduled to as well as the blog tour. Mel, from Girls Heart Books Tours, has been amazing working with me through this decision and is working as hard as possible to work with me on these changes.

If you want to sign up for my blog tour or book blast, feel free to sign up on her blog. At this moment, the dates haven't been changed yet, so that is something to consider when signing up. ARCs will be available to book reviewers in November.

I apologize to my readers for this delay, and I thank you for being patient.

It's My Birthday and I'm Gifting You!

For my readers who don't know, today is my birthday! In light of it, I am going to post the excerpt I wrote a few days ago from Gemini the Heir! Please note that it is unedited:

My mouth soured and I leaned over the bed and allowed my stomach to regurgitate. A warm sweet taste filled my mouth. I looked down and saw red. The taste of blood lingered on my tongue. The final stage in the virus. I spit out the remaining blood, and I heard frantic voices around me. They knew it too. My stomach ached as well as the rest of my body. I kept my eyes closed as the lightness in the room would cause my head to pound even more. It was worse now than it was earlier. Every throb felt heavy and loud. The pain was building up, and I was sure that my skull could not hold the pressure.
My body became weak and it was a struggle to fight the sleep. My eyes drifted and I took in the darkness, afraid to meet what awaited me there.

Blurb-

After a fatal hit and run accident, Ella Monroe fears that she’s lost more than her beloved parents. Horrifying visions of a past life and a disturbing voice in her head have psychiatric professionals convinced that she’s lost her sanity as well. But when Kale--a dark and handsome stranger with a mysterious past--reveals the true meaning of her visions and the tremendous power she wields through them, Ella must come to terms with the devastating truths of her own past, while eluding an ancient Dark Prince who seeks to control not only her future, but all of mankind’s, by means of abilities that Ella is only beginning to understand.

Enter the shrouded world of an age old battle between an ancient race known as the Immortals and their bitter enemy Laurent, the so-called Dark Prince, who commands an army of half-breed vampires known as Chorý. Both sides have been desperately searching for the prophesied emergence of the Arc, a clairvoyant with unparalleled power to recall the past and a soothsayer with clear vision into the future.

The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale’s cursed condition as a wretched and hated Chorý be used against them both?

This paranormal romance told from the heroine’s perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Novel: Gemini the Heir Excerpt (unedited)

“What is that?” I asked. It wasn’t like Emréiana to have several crafts flying around.
“Something is wrong.” My mother placed her hand on my shoulder. Fear radiated from her.
I watched as three crafts rapidly changed course and speed. There was a shot and one craft grew flames on its rear. Was it one of ours or one of theirs? I could not tell from the dark. The craft declined in altitude until it was lost to one of the mountains.
I turned around quickly, walking back into my chambers. I hadn’t even made it to my door before it swung open.
“Carsona,” Aaronmon started, stepping into the room. “Go to the safe room until I come to get you.”
“I’ll take Krea Mannannala with me,” I agreed. This was the second time we had to go to the safe room since I had been on Emréiana. “What about you?”
“I’ll come once I know it is safe.” Aaronmon placed his hands on my shoulders. It did not ease my worry at all. He may have been my garnix, but he was my betrothed as well.
“Don’t forget that once you are married to me, you will be a part of the Elaeye too,” I reminded him.
“I won’t be if my bride is dead,” Aaronmon smirked.
“Who are you to joke right now?” I raised my brow.
“I hate to interrupt, but I think we need to be going.” I heard my mother say from behind me.
“I’ll see you in a little while.” Aaronmon nodded and left the room.

Girls Heart Books Tours

My time with Girls Heart Books was amazing! Not only was my book posted on lots of great blogs, but I also received some wonderful reviews and fun interviews from the hosts! My blog and Facebook follows went up a lot during the tour as well! I could not have been happier with Mel, who was in charge of my tour. I think the best thing about their tours is you always hear about other tours where half of the bloggers did not follow through and post anything. That was not the case here. Every blog that was on my tour list has posted something. To me that was a huge plus for their tours. It proves that they are willing to make sure that their hosts are active. When I had a host that had not contacted me for a Skype interview, she checked it out for me personally a few weeks before the tour before taking it off the list. I could not have been happier and I will most definitely be back in the near future!

BLOG HOP: The Next Big Thing

First I would like to thank Irma Geddon for tagging me! This is going to be so much fun!

1: What is the working title of your book?
Gemini the Heir

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

I came up with the idea for Gemini of Emreiana over 3 years ago. There were several factors. One was that I had started a book in the same genre with a friend... but unfortunately that did not get finished. The second factor was that I was going through a lot of changes in my life during that time and wanted a means to escape. What I found was that my writing was that way. My characters flourished and started to tell their own story. Because of that the story has went into a trilogy where this book fits.

3: What genre does your book come under?
Young Adult Science Fictions/ Fantasy

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
So funny this should come up because I actually already have a blog post pertaining to this!
Carsona- Erica Dasher

Aaronmon- David Henrie

Kyle- Steven Mcqueen

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
One sentence! Well that will be hard.

Carson is now living her life as the heir to the throne in Emreiana, but things take a turn when the war progresses. Even surprises emerge causing Carson to question how well she do her job.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?
Indie Author here :)

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I'm still writing it. LOL

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Hmm. This is a tough one. Can I get back to you on this one :)

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?
I'm actually not sure. I just love to write and tell stories. If I have to list people who told me to pursue my dreams, I would say my mom. She was always interested in my works.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
There is a little bit of new languages going on in this book. I tried to make it simple to catch on, but I still think it is cool.

Stacy Marie Brown's Darkness Of Light

Freak. Witch. Crazy. Schizo.

Ember Brycin has been called them all. She’s always known she’s different. No one has ever called her normal, even under the best circumstances. Bizarre and inexplicable things continually happen to her, and having two different colored eyes, strange hair, and an unusual tattoo only contributes to the gossip about her.

When the latest school explosion lands her in a facility for trouble teens, she meets Eli Dragen, who’s hot as hell and darkly mysterious. Their connection is full of passion, danger, and secrets. Secrets that will not only change her life, but what and who she is—leading her down a path she never imagined possible.

Between Light and Dark, Ember finds a world where truth and knowledge are power and no one can be trusted. But her survival depends on finding out the truth about herself. In her pursuit, she is forced between love and destiny and good and evil, even when the differences between them aren’t always clear. At worst, she will incite a war that could destroy both worlds. At best, she will not only lose her heart but her life and everyone she loves. Once the truth is out, however, there will be no going back. And she’ll definitely wish she could.
